Hole19: Golf GPS Range Finder App Reviews

Apple Watch

This is an excellent app for the Apple Watch. The GPS readings are identical to my friends $300 range finder with an annual fee. You can simply raise your wrist and have the distances to the front, middle, and back of the green. There were initial some problems with the GPS freezing with the Watch OS2 update, but they seem to have cleared up with version 3.1 of the app. Even if you dont have an Apple Watch, this is an excellent iPhone app. This is the best tool I have on the golf course!

Crash right away!!!

Crashes at startup on iOS 9.1 iPhone6s, cannot use at all!

Great Update

The latest update fixed most of the problems. I can now use the app with the watch instead of my GPS watch. (anyone want to buy one, cheap?) Still not perfect. It froze once, but I cleared it up by waking the app on my phone. Also sometimes off by a few yards and still a bit slow to update, but much better than before.

Good app

This app works well on Apple Watch now that they got the bugs out of it. Just used it yesterday and is very handy.

Very good.

Seems to be working better now. I like this app. Just look at my watch and get my yardage. Helps me keep track of my scores. Sometimes its a little slow. But usually better than pulling my phone out before every shot. Also, cant beat the price. All of the other watch compatible apps want crazy fees to use the watch version. But not this one.

Useless

When I first installed was great and the envy of friends. After updates and repeated deleting and reinstalling, the app still freezes and does not work. No matter what I do, does not work.

Excellent update

Recent update fixed the issue of freezing on Apple Watch. It is now comparable or better to paid apps. Still freezes occasionally

Watch not working

Worked well, until recently. Now I cant get the watch app to work. Its also ridiculous that on the watch app you cant press one button in advance to the next hole. You have to go back to "distances". Very disappointed that what was a good app now doesnt work.

Great golf app when its working

I have tried golf apps with my iPhone including a well known one that cost me $29.99. That one was a bust when using it with Apple Watch. I stumbled on Hole 19 and when its working, it is a useful watch app. I just want simple yardage read outs, I could care less about strokes, putts, sharing rounds played with friends, etc. Keeping it simple, perfecting basic functions related to immediate on the course read outs while you are playing should be the goal. Developers could add on the other junk if they want, once the basics are mastered. All they need to do is look at a Bushnell Neo or Garmin S series for the important stuff. Ive had to pair and unpair my watch twice to get Hole 19 to function again, so in its current state, its not worth the effort. Once this problem is resolved, this app has a lot of upside. Currently two stars but could be four with further refinement.

Too difficult

For some reason, there does not appear to be a golf app that actually works well with the Apple Watch. This app is no exception. It takes too long to load, when it does load, it is too difficult to change holes. Seems like the Apple Watch should be an ideal platform for a golf app that works.

Works OK, But....

The yardages are accurate but take too long to load. The biggest problem is advancing to the next hole. There should be a "next" arrow but instead you need to back out and choose the next hole. Really dumb, like it was built by non golfers. Also, enough with all the meaningless extras. No golfer cares about keeping score etc on an app. Give us a good watch interface, accurate and quick yardages and auto advance to the next whole and you have a 5 star app.

Great Service

This is the first app that I could find out there that works with the Apple Watch for golf. And its free on top of that. Finally what sold me the most was I was having some trouble with the app and their service department help me troubleshoot the problem immediately. Great app and great organization.

Has Become Cumbersome

Ive been using Hole19 for about a year. Its getting harder to "like". It crashes a lot more that earlier versions. Its become slow and eats a lot of power. I got to switch.

Now great!

Ever since the Apple watch came out, I have been searching for a usable golf app that was fast and accurate enough to use on the golf course. Hole 19 has now fulfilled that search. Although previous versions did not perform that well, the current version is VERY good. Loads and updates distances as fast, or faster than other golf apps on my iPhone 6; is very accurate. It is a very easy to use watch golf app. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars, yet, is it doesn’t automatically advance to the new hole, so I have to remember to do that. I believe that functionality is coming. If you are looking for a quick, accurate distance golf app for the Apple watch, this app is for you. Battery drain is minimal on both the phone and the watch, typically using between 10-15 percent for 18 holes.

Great App!!

Excellent App even if you have a hand held range finder! I had a course that had changed their hole layout, and I sent a request in for an update. It took less than 2 days for the app to reflect the new course changes! Excellent response time & service! I always recommend Hole 19, great app!

Cool Apple Watch app

Got an Apple Watch for Christmas. Looking for a golf app that would make the Watch even cooler to use. Easy to install. And, when I requested support for a separate par 3 course not listed, their customer service had it added in hours! Wow! Great support! Wish every software company had this level of responsiveness.

Great app and even better support!

I have to admit I was just about to give up on this app. I used it for months then one day following an update my Apple Watch app stopped working. I tried everything in the book - deleted apps, reset phone etc. I was so disappointed after having purchased my Apple Watch for this purpose and being so used to this app. I decided to e-mail the company for help and what a great decision that turned out to be. Jose from their support team tried repeatedly to get the app working. I thought he had exhausted all options until I received an e-mail to become a beta tester and test an updated version of the app that addressed my issue. And it sure did, I’m up and running again! I was so impressed by the follow up and dedication given to my issue. I can honestly say you have a customer for life after this experience! Thank you so much Jose and Stat Track Technologies. Job well done.

Excellent App

Best app out there after trying them all. Simple interface, accurate information and responsive support. Cant ask for a better app.

It’s a little funky

I played a round of 18 Saturday with the Watch function after updating the app. It seemed to track the yardages throughout the entire round, and I entered my scores. When I was done, it had tracked only the front 9, and my iPhone battery was nearly dead. (Phone was mostly charged when I started, I think.) But Sunday it worked OK on my next round. And then an additional round just showed up - my Saturday round! This despite the original front nine (same round) was still showing in my feed. I still think there are too many screens to pass before you can advance to the next hole - I guess that’s for tracking other people’s scores - and I certainly wouldn’t rely solely on this app to track scores for myself let alone others when I can’t rely on it to save them.

Apple Watch Problems

Your app is working great now that Ive realized that once I start it on my iPhone and start my Apple Watch, I need to not be able to see it on my phone any longer or it keeps deferring to the phone instead of the watch. Just set the phone back to the general screen for all applications or do a soft off. Please tell everyone as I almost stopped using it before and its great now!!! Also hardly uses any battery on iPhone when app isnt showing on phone.
